Back in mid-March, acclaimed developer Marcus Nyberg of Orbx released his highly anticipated rendition of Scandinavian Mountains Airport (ESKS) for Prepar3D V4. Shortly thereafter, we started the process of putting together a brief image showcase highlighting the scenery package.
The real-world airport is a brand new facility located in Dalarna, Sweden, close to the Norwegian border. Having just opened in December 2019, ESKS is primarily intended to serve the tourism industry and nearby ski resorts. As of the time of this writing, airline service consists of Scandivanian Airlines and Braathens Regional.
According to Marcus, the airport management was particularly helpful in providing access, reference material, and even high-resolution aerial imagery for the project. Notably, the airport is the first Orbx scenery to incorporate 3cm/px drone-sourced aerial imagery offering an unusually high level of detail. Other features include 4K PBR textures, snow effects, dynamic weather-influenced ground textures, interior building modeling, custom static aircraft, and seamless integration with Orbx EU Norway, Global Base, and openLC Europe.
The scenery was purchased by airmail creative and the screenshots were captured using P3DV4.5.
For those interested, the package is currently priced at $34.95 AUD and is available via OrbxDirect.
